WISE APE Owner Erik Cox Launches Handmade Chaplin Canes Out of Colorado Design Studio

FORT COLLINS, CO - Erik Cox, Founder of WISE APE marketing and graphic design studio in Fort Collins reveals today a side project born in pandemic, Chaplin Canes. 

Chaplin Canes are crafted with American White Ash by one of the last American cane makers in New York, a fifth-generation family-owned business founded in 1902. All Chaplin designs are limited runs that Erik masks, paints, and finishes by hand in his studio in Fort Collins, Colorado. Chaplin Canes are cut to order and come in various designs, colors, and trims catered to reflect the personalities of every customer.

Like many local businesses, Cox found himself with less work and a need for a creative outlet amid pandemic and economic shutdown. An encounter with an old friend who was using a cane for an injury inspired a creative thought - what if there was a cooler cane? One designed both for function and to help the user feel more stylish in recovery? Chaplin was born.

Chaplin Canes are a unique side project that reflect the “smart creative” approach at WISE APE, and a testament to how some of most creative ideas stem from hard times.
